Here are some of our favorites:

Bottom Layer

Red and Green Christmas Gelatin Salad begins by combining lime gelatin and crushed pineapple. Next, pour the mixture into a 3-quart rectangular baking dish or food storage container.

Center

Next, place rows of marshmallows over the green gelatin and refrigerate the mixture until gelatin is set.

Top Layer

The red (top) layer consists of a combination of cherry gelatin and cherry pie filling and is poured over the top of the marshmallows. Once again, place the salad back into the refrigerator until the cherry layer is set.

Don’t you just love the pretty layers in this Christmas salad? It really does make a pretty addition to any holiday tablescape. 

Another favorite salad on our holiday menu is this Christmas Layered Salad.

Serve

When ready to serve, cut Red and Green Christmas Gelatin Salad into squares and garnish each serving with a dollop of whipped topping. 

This recipe yields approximately 24 servings so it is perfect for your holiday entertaining. NOTE: Only need 12 servings? Simply cut the recipe in half!

Red and Green Christmas Gelatin Salad

Prep Time: 20 minutes
Additional Time: 4 hours
Total Time: 4 hours 20 minutes

Ingredients

  • 1 package (6-ounces) lime gelatin (GF Option: use a gluten-free brand)
  • 4 cups boiling water, divided
  • 1 can (16-ounces) crushed pineapple, undrained
  • 42 large marshmallows
  • 1 package (6-ounces) cherry gelatin (GF Option: use a gluten-free brand)
  • 1 can (21-ounces) cherry pie filling (GF Option: use a gluten-free brand)
  • Optional: whipped topping for garnish

Instructions

  1. In a small bowl, dissolve lime gelatin in 2 cups boiling water. Let stand for 2 minutes. Stir in pineapple. Pour into a 3-quart rectangular dish or food storage container. Top with marshmallows. Refrigerate until set.
  2. In a small bowl, dissolve cherry gelatin in the remaining 2 cups of boiling water. Let stand until room temperature. Stir in pie filling; pour over marshmallows. Cover and refrigerate until set.
  3. Cut into squares and garnish each serving with a dollop of whipped topping.
  4. Serve. Refrigerate leftovers.

Notes

To make fewer servings simply divide the recipe in half.
