White Chocolate Almond Joy Trifle

If you love the combination of chocolate, almonds, and coconut, then you are going to love this amazing White Chocolate Almond Joy Trifle!

Trifles have quickly become one of my favorite desserts to make whenever I need a quick and easy, yet beautiful dessert.

Last weekend my husband and I were hosting a family gathering. I was working on the menu and decided that trifles always seem to be a big hit with everyone in my family, especially the grandchildren.

Since Anna and I have previously created several different trifle recipes such as Chocolate or Coconut Cream TriflesMaple Cream Cheese Pumpkin Bar Trifle and Birthday Cake Trifle, I decided to create a new recipe with ingredients I had on hand.

I didn’t want to spend a lot of time making something so I looked in my pantry and found a gluten free cake mix and some boxed pudding. Then I spied a bowl of chocolate candy on our counter-top. Ta Da! That is how this White Chocolate Almond Joy Trifle was born.

Between preparing other portions of the meal, I made a Betty Crocker Gluten Free Devil’s Food Cake Mix according to the directions on the box  (you can certainly use a non-gluten free chocolate cake mix in this recipe instead of the gluten-free cake mix). When the cake was finished baking, I removed it from the oven and allowed it to cool to room temperature. While the cake was cooling I whipped up one small box, plus one large box of gluten-free White Chocolate Instant Pudding.

Next, I placed a layer of chocolate cake pieces in the bottom of my trifle bowl. I added a layer of pudding and a layer of chopped Almond Joy Bars (tip: the Almond Joy Bars will chop much easier if you stick them in the freezer for 20 minutes).

I then sprinkled shredded coconut on top of the first three layers and repeated the whole process.

Almost finished….

This White Chocolate Almond Joy Trifle was super easy to create and it makes a beautiful dessert. This recipe has now been officially added to my family’s list of favorite recipes!

Hi Joyce, Good question. I have not tried freezing this myself, however you can certainly try it. Another suggestion would be to put your trifle into a cooler with some ice packed around the bottom of the bowl. I have done that before and it works well. Please let me know how it works if you do actually freeze it. Good luck! Linda
