A made-from-scratch batch of Grandma’s Famous Easy Touchdown Chili Sauce always scores a major win. Invite friends over to watch the big game and enjoy munching on your favorite foods, topped with this yummy sauce.

Ingredients
To make Grandma’s Easy Touchdown Chili Sauce start by combining peeled, chopped tomatoes, diced onion, and green pepper.
Next, combine salt, cinnamon, ground cloves, and ground nutmeg.
Add the spices to the tomato mixture.
Measure 1 teaspoon of your favorite hot sauce (use a gluten-free brand) and add it to the tomato mixture.
Measure 2-1/4 cups apple cider vinegar and add it to the tomato mixture. (I use Bragg Organic Apple Cider Vinegar.)

Heat the Sauce
Next, heat the tomato mixture over medium heat (stir occasionally) until it comes to a low boil.
Reduce the heat and simmer the mixture for 2 hours, or until it thickens.
The sauce gradually starts to thicken as it simmers.
After it reaches the desired consistency, remove it from heat. Carefully spoon sauce into sterilized Mason jars.

Storage
Let the sauce cool. Store in the refrigerator.

This is a very good chili sauce and lends itself to personal taste preferences. I made a small batch using a 28 oz can of diced tomatoes and added red bell peppers, allspice, ginger, celery seed, bay leaf and a spoonful of sugar. The sauce was nice and thick after simmering for 2 1/4 hours. It would be helpful to know how long the sauce will keep in the refrigerator.

Can I used canned diced tomaties
Blessed Beyond Crazy says
Hi Margaret,
Sure, you can certainly use canned diced tomatoes. They should work just fine but I suggest draining the tomatoes well before adding them to the other ingredients. Enjoy! Linda
