My husband hit a home run in the gift department two years ago at Christmas when he bought me a KitchenAid mixer. Not only that, but he also got me quite a few different attachments! It made for a great Christmas, and he’s enjoyed the rewards of many delicious meals and desserts since then.
When I first got my KitchenAid mixer, I thought it was only for making cookies, cakes, and frostings.
Was I ever wrong! I’ve learned to use it for so much more than whipping up desserts. Do you know what your KitchenAid is capable of?

Perfectly Shred Chicken
This is my favorite KitchenAid hack because it saves so much time and gives you a perfectly shredded chicken every time! Use the paddle attachment and place a fully cooked chicken breast in the bowl of your mixer. Then, turn the speed on low to let it break up the chicken and then bump it up to medium speed until your chicken is as shredded as you like. Be sure to keep your eye on it so you can stop your mixer when the chicken is perfectly shredded.
What used to take me 15 to 20 minutes to do by hand is now done is done in two minutes, which is a huge time saver when making supper!
Make the Smoothest Mashed Potatoes
Using the paddle attachment, your KitchenAid can make the smoothest mashed potatoes. First, peel and dice your potatoes, and then boil them until a fork can easily pierce them. Add the potatoes to your KitchenAid bowl and turn on turn it on the medium setting, mixing the potatoes until they’re smooth. Go ahead and add any other ingredients you like in your potatoes such as sour cream, butter, and milk because your KitchenAid can mix all those in as well.
In addition, you can use the paddle attachment to make these delicious foods:
- Cookies
- Pastries
- Meatloaf/Meatballs — That’s right! Add your meat and all your ingredients and mix until blended. Then form into a loaf or use a cookie scooper to make meatballs.
- Biscuits
When making doughs, such as cake or cookies, the paddle attachment with a paddle attachment with edge scraper is so nice! With this attachment, you will not have to stop your mixer to scrape the sides down with a spatula. This has the spatula built in and as it mixes it scrapes the sides so all your ingredients get combined.
Make Ice Cream
Did you know there is a KitchenAid Ice Cream maker This is a game-changer because now you can make your favorite ice cream at home whenever you want to, not to mention that it’s incredibly easy to make?
Make Baby Food
When you make homemade baby food, you can enjoy the comfort of knowing exactly what ingredients are in the food that your baby is consuming and have peace of mind that your baby is getting the healthiest and freshest food possible. You can easily make your own baby food by using the KitchenAid Strainer attachment.
Make Gourmet Burgers
You can use the KitchenAid meat grinder attachment to make your own gourmet burgers. Go ahead and add in all your seasonings and extra ingredients into the meat grinder with your beef to make your prep time even shorter.
Make Juice and Sauces from Fresh Produce
You can use your KitchenAid to make more than just desserts because you can also use it to aid weight-loss efforts with a KitchenAid juice and sauce attachment that juices fresh produce. You can also use this attachment for making fresh sauces for pasta or salad dressings.
My favorite things to juice with my KitchenAid juicer attachment are:
- cucumbers
- carrots
- celery
- oranges
- apples
- grapes
I juice all of the above together and usually make a whole gallon at a time! This lasts me for about four days. I do add some fresh lemon juice to keep it fresh. If you are just starting with juicing I recommend adding more fruit than vegetables so it tastes sweeter.
