Cheeseburger Soup (Naturally Gluten Free)

Thanks for sharing!

Cheeseburger Soup is perfect for a cold winter’s day! Or as my family lives, all year long.

We like to eat soup even in the middle of summer because soup is fast easy and you don’t have to make any other sides! Or maybe just a salad, but only if you want.

I normally make this Cheeseburger soup with ground beef. However, there was quite a snowstorm the night before I made this, and I was not about to go in that mess to go to the grocery store. This time I made it a little bit differently just because I had to use what was already (or not already) in my fridge.

I had no ground beef, so I used ground sausage instead. I was a little concerned about this switch, but my husband actually liked it better with the sausage! This proves you can use whatever type of ground meat you prefer and it will still work. Hooray for versatile soups!

When it comes to the vegetables, the recipe calls for potatoes, onions, carrots, and celery. I didn’t have any celery, so I just omitted it this time. You could also throw in a diced bell pepper or sliced mushrooms.

My kids did get a little offended over the vegetables being in the cheeseburger soup. Their argument was that a real cheeseburger doesn’t have carrots or potatoes on it! HAHA! Cheeseburger soup gets its name because it has cheese and burger in it, not because it is supposed to replace a cheeseburger!

Notes

Use any of your favorite vegetables. Mushrooms or diced peppers would also be delicious in this soup.

Ground beef is normally used, but ground sausage tastes fantastic too!

Enjoy! Anna
