This sauce is perfect for pasta, homemade pizza, homemade lasagna, meatballs, etc.
Quick and Easy Homemade Spaghetti Sauce Ingredients
- 1/2 sweet onion, finely diced
- 2 tablespoons of your favorite cooking oil
- 2 tablespoons butter
- 3 minced garlic cloves
- 1 can crushed tomatoes (28 ounces)
- 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
- Salt and Pepper
- 1 teaspoon onion powder
- 1 teaspoon garlic powder
- 3/4 teaspoon baking soda*
The baking soda is to help lower the acidity of the tomatoes.
Directions
- Heat the oil in a medium-stock pot until it is hot. Add the onion, butter, and garlic. Sauté until the onion is translucent.
- Add the crushed tomatoes, seasonings, and baking soda. Stir to combine. Bring to a simmer. The tomatoes will pop as they simmer, so use a lid to keep yourself from getting burned or making a mess.
- Simmer on low for about 30 minutes.
- Enjoy with your favorite pasta!
