Summer is the perfect time to make a lavender latte. My kids are obsessed with these and make one almost every day.
Shout out to my friend Kate for giving me the lavender simple syrup recipe and the idea to make a lavender latte!

Lavender Latte Ingredients
I use lavender from my garden to make a simple lavender syrup. If you buy your lavender from a store, please make sure it is food grade, and not decorational or craft lavender, which is not safe to eat.
While I love coffee and drink it in excessive amounts, I wouldn’t consider myself a coffee expert. In this post, I am using the word “latte” loosely. It’s coffee (or espresso) and milk, and I measure with my heart. I don’t have a fancy coffee machine, and I’m not getting hung up on the ratio of coffee to steamed milk to milk foam. Use whatever ratio makes you happy.
For the Lavender Simple Syrup
- 1 cup water
- 1 cup sugar
- 2 tablespoons fresh or dehydrated lavender flowers
Other Ingredients
- Black coffee, chilled or hot
- Frothed hot milk of choice (I use this type of milk frother)
- Ice, optional for a cold version
Directions
As you can see, there are few ingredients, which makes this a quick and easy treat.
Make the Lavender Simple Syrup
- In a pot, bring the water and sugar to a boil, and stir with a whisk until the sugar is completely dissolved.
- Add the lavender to the syrup and remove it from heat. Cover the pan with a lid and let the lavender seep for 20 minutes. Using a mesh colander, strain the syrup into a mason jar and allow it to cool.
- Cover with a lid and keep refrigerated. This will make 8-16 lattes.
Make the Lavender Latte
- In a cup of your choice, add 1-2 tablespoons of lavender syrup (start small, make your latte, and add more at the end after you have tasted it).
- Add ice, if you want a cold drink, then pour coffee into your cup until it is about 1/2 or 2/3 full.
- Add the milk and milk foam to top it off.
