It just wouldn’t be Thanksgiving without the gravy. The gluten-free Thanksgiving gravy is so delicious, that I joked with my husband that I would drink it out of a coffee mug.
It comes together in just a few minutes and can be made ahead of time and reheated in a crock pot! It’s naturally gluten-free, so everyone can enjoy it! Another reason this recipe is so great is that it can be made with or without turkey drippings.
Gluten-Free Thanksgiving Gravy Ingredients
- 4 tablespoons butter or ghee
- 1/2 onion, finely diced
- 1 stalk celery, finely diced
- 3 cloves minced garlic
- 1/4 cup cornstarch
- 1 cup heavy cream (or water for dairy-free)
- 2 cups stock (beef, chicken, or vegetable stock -OR- turkey drippings) — quantity can be adjusted for thicker or thinner gravy
- 2 teaspoon thyme
- 2 teaspoons rosemary
- salt and pepper to taste
Directions
- In a medium stock pot, melt the butter and add the garlic, onion, and celery. Sauté until onions and celery are soft.
- Stir the cornstarch into room-temperature cream or water until dissolved. Slowly add the cornstarch mixture to the stock pot, while stirring. Once it starts to become thick, slowly add the stock, while stirring.
- Add the thyme and rosemary. Bring to a low boil.
- Taste the gravy and add salt and pepper to taste.
I like to make this the day before Thanksgiving, then on Thanksgiving morning I just have to add it to a small crock pot and turn it on.
